"I loved the atmosphere and the people. Attending Vanier has been a dream of mine, and I still can't believe it's actually happening!" said one smiling student, happy to see that Vanier lived up to its reputation for its warm and welcoming atmosphere and personnel.
With the CEGEP application deadline fast approaching on March 1, Information Evening was the perfect time for high school students and their parents and friends to obtain last-minute information on all the programs, services and activities offered at Vanier, and firm up their decision about which program to choose. As a result, the Student Mall and the Cafeteria Annex where program tables were set up, were full of people talking with teachers and seeking to learn more about what interested them.
As well, the Science program welcomed a continuous stream of visitors to their on-going information presentations about their highly sought-after program. Elsewhere, representatives from Admissions and Academic Advising answered more complex questions to help prospective students understand the prerequisites needed for the programs they were eyeing. Other Vanier specialists were also on hand to provide clarification on applying to Vanier, on the details of the Language Law (Law 14 - Bill 96), the Sport-Études possibilities, and the Springboard program.
Benoit Morin, Vanier's new Director General was deeply impressed by what he saw. "It was a great success of which we are very proud. It's an event that demands a lot of work from all Vanier personnel. It was wonderful to see the friendly enthusiasm of Vanier employees helping visitors sort through the sometimes-challenging maze of choosing a program and a CEGEP, and to see the expectant and smiling faces of potential future students," he said.
