School of Business professor Dr. Fatih Yegul was awarded a Case Centre award - the first for Yegul and Conestoga.
Business professor Dr. Fatih Yegul was recognized with a Case Centre Award.
The Case Centre Awards and Competitions 2025 showcased exceptional achievements in case teaching and writing in global business education, as well as highlighting the significance of sustainability in business education and its growing integration into classrooms worldwide.
Yegul's case "Broadband-X: Enterprise Resource Planning Implementation" won in the Knowledge, Information and Communication Systems category. This was the first case Yegul authored, written on his own and based on his personal experiences.
"The Case Centre has always been my go-to place for finding the best cases for my classes. It has the largest case collection in the world and greatly contributes to the success of both professors and students. Being recognized for one of my cases is a huge honour. Case authors put in a lot of effort to produce good cases, and getting recognized by such a prestigious organization boosts my confidence and motivates me to write more," Yegul said of the win.
"I'd like to thank The Case Centre for this great honour. Conestoga recently licensed The Case Centre's undergraduate collection, giving me and my students access to thousands of case studies. It's a great feeling to have an award-winning case in that collection."
Yegul read numerous case studies and a case-authoring book to prepare for writing his first case on a topic of professional interest - management of information systems and projects. In his case, Broadband-X is a growing electronic contract manufacturing company looking for a comprehensive new system to effectively manage manufacturing operations in harmony with sales and accounting. After a couple failed deployment attempts, the company appointed an employee to spearhead the project.
Yegul's case was praised for delving into a prevalent, but seldom explored topic by Sean Hansen, professor of Management Information Systems, Saunders College of Business, Rochester Institute of Technology.
"Broadband-X: Enterprise Resource Planning Implementation is one of the few contemporary cases that addresses the dynamic nature of enterprise systems implementation and use. Despite the persistent importance of this topic, few cases delve into the challenges and opportunities that it presents. This case enables students to explore multiple facets of the systems implementation process, including social factors, the role of leadership, and significance of questions around customisation. I find that it supports a very fruitful discussion in my classes."
The Case Centre was established in 1973 as the Case Clearing House of Great Britain and Ireland as a joint initiative by 22 higher education institutions to share case materials among business teachers. The non-profit educational organization now has more than 500 members all over the world.
"As businesses face increasing pressure to integrate environmental, social, and governance considerations, this year's award-winning cases equip the next generation of leaders with the knowledge and skills to navigate complex sustainability challenges," said chief executive officer Vicky Lester.
