SASKATCHEWAN POLYTECHNIC
Sask Polytech hosts Honouring Our Graduates and Alumni Round Dance

March 24, 2025

At Saskatoon campus, Saskatchewan Polytechnic hosted a round dance to honour our graduates and alumni.

Round dances are a central aspect of Indigenous culture that bring people together in a spirit of unity and friendship. They bring communities together to honour, heal and celebrate.

"Empowering our students and graduates to reach their potential, celebrate success and take on new challenges is important to our team. The Round Dance was a great way to reflect, celebrate and inspire," says Deanna Kematch, Sask Polytech's wītōkamāhtōtān Indigenous Student Success director. "It was heart-warming to see so many people of all ages and backgrounds come together to honour the achievements, strength and resilience of our graduates and alumni."

This round dance is a reflection of Sask Polytech's commitment to miyo wâhkôhtowin, promoting diversity and inclusivity on its campuses and expressing the positive value and richness of experience that stems from interconnectedness and relationships.

Thank you to our emcee Elmer Balentyne, stickman Marc Longjohn and Elders Marshall Dreaver and Rick Daniels for assisting with this event.
