On the weekend of March 15-16, Champlain hosted its first Code Quest, an annual computer programming competition where teams work together to solve problems by using Java, Python and other programming languages.
The event was organized by third-year computer science student Adem Bessam in collaboration with Student Services.
"The event was truly incredible. I'm thrilled that we had so many teams participate, representing different levels and programs at Champlain from Computer Science to Pure and Applied," said Bessam.
The goal of this event was to give students the opportunity to create their own projects while receiving support through workshops and mentorship. Bessam said it was inspiring to see teams develop complex projects, from an AI-powered waste classification tool to a reminder/calendar app designed to assist students in they day-to-day lives.
"Watching them build something from scratch reinforced the idea that anything is possible with teamwork and the right guidance," he said.
