Canadians went to the polls to elect a new federal government. CICan extends its congratulations to the re-elected government and to all Members of Parliament - new and returning - across the country. We also congratulate Mark Carney on being elected as Prime Minister of Canada.
Over recent weeks, we have been closely assessing party platforms - and their implications - to ensure our sector is ready to hit the ground running.
Now the real work begins. It's important the new government, cabinet, and all elected officials understand how Canada's public colleges, institutes, CEGEPs and polytechnics help them advance their priorities and ultimately meet the needs of Canadians.
We'll continue making the case - loud and clear - that investing in public institutions isn't just good policy, it's essential for Canada's future. From building and making things right here at home, to strengthening global trade, to growing a more competitive, productive workforce and economy, colleges and institutes are where it starts.
In the weeks ahead, we will be equipping your Government Relations teams with tools to engage local MPs and elected officials in your ridings to tell the public college, institute, CEGEP and polytechnic story, to highlight the role the sector plays in building our country, and ensure our message is coordinated and aligned across all platforms.
