Fanshawe's Music Industry Arts program celebrates 50 years at annual reunion

May 7, 2025

Fanshawe College alumni are heading to Toronto to celebrate the Music Industry Arts (MIA) program's 50th anniversary at an upcoming reunion.

The reunion unites and recognizes the incredible talent and experience of the program's alumni, as well as their impact on the music industry in Canada and around the world.

"Music Industry Arts grads have been prevalent in the music industry since its inception in 1975 and still are today," said Dan Brodbeck, MIA program coordinator. "We have graduated so many successful recording engineers, producers, writers, and businesspeople over the last 50 years while maintaining our standard as the best audio recording program in the country. The diversity of our program is what makes it so successful."

The celebration takes place on Friday, May 9, 2025, during The Departure Festival and Conference (formerly Canadian Music Week) in Toronto at The Rivoli. Doors open at 5 p.m.

The Music Industry Arts program focuses students' musical talents and creative passions on applied skills that help them make their mark in the world of audio and recording arts. They study the business of music, learning artist and label management, digital media technology, audio and live sound production, as well as writing, producing and engineering.
