Aurora College and Hotıì ts'eeda are pleased to announce that the 2025 Edets'seèhdzà Mentorship Opportunity is open for applications until June 15, 2025.
This $20,000 opportunity supports a student from Aurora College's School of Health and Human Services to engage in health research alongside their academic studies.
In 2025, the selected student will be matched with a research team working on the CIHR funded SPARK Inspiration project.
Through the Edets'seèhdzà Mentorship, the student will have the chance to:
- Work as a part-time Research Assistant (10 hours/week for 24 weeks)
- Gain hands-on experience in northern and community health research
- Attend a health research conference
- Participate in a potential community visit focused on community health
Edets'seèhdzà (eh-DEY-tsay-zah) means "stepping forward to challenge yourself" in the Tłı̨chǫ language. There have been five students supported through the Edets'seèhdzà opportunity since its launch in 2019. Research areas have included traditional teachings, Northern focused care and Indigenous health research.
