Condors men's cricket team finishes impressive season with championship win

The team won the title of 2024-25 Ontario Collegiate Recreation Rec Cup Champions, the culmination of an impressive season that demonstrated discipline, teamwork and competitive spirit.

"Every single tournament that we participated in, we reached the finals," said head coach Ankur Jhaveri.  

"We began initially with just a few indoor tournaments and minimal equipment. Today we're taking a step forward."

Andrew Bates, director of Sport and Recreation at Conestoga, congratulated the team for the championship title, "which was a very fitting way to cap off the story-like season" in which the team made all seven tournament finals they played in and won five.

"This is truly a championship team that knows how to win."

In the championship hosted by Cambrian College, the Condors beat Humber North 48-47.

For team captain Aniket Kumar, the season sparked personal growth and a renewed appreciation for the game beyond the scoreboard. He thanked his fellow players and their dedication to cricket and the team for the success this season.

"I learned a lot from every single player," he said. "The environment with the team and coaches was so good. They were always by my side."

The Condors Cricket team kicks off their outdoor season with tryouts on May 13, followed by their first tournament of the summer on June 27 at Waterloo Park.
