Every year during National Nursing Week, Aurora College recognizes the dedication of nursing students, graduates, faculty, staff and community partners who work together to support and strengthen the nursing profession across the Northwest Territories.
In 2025, Aurora College is celebrating 30 years of delivering Northern nursing education. For three decades, our programs have prepared graduates to become registered nurses who provide culturally relevant, compassionate, skilled care in health facilities across the Northwest Territories and beyond.
This year's National Nursing Week theme is especially poignant: The Power of Nurses to Transform Health. The theme highlights the impact nurses have to shape health care, drive innovation and advocate for patient-centred care. National Nursing Week recognizes the hard work and dedication of nurses across Canada and around the world.
Aurora College's four-year Bachelor of Science in Nursing (BSN) is offered in partnership with the University of Victoria, and offers a unique Northern and Indigenous focus that prepares graduates to work in Northern and remote health care settings.
Aurora College also offers a two-year Practical Nurse (PN) Diploma program, which prepares graduates to become Licensed Practical Nurses. This is an excellent option for nursing education that now exists in the NWT to help meet health system needs for individuals, families and communities.
