Northern College is pleased to announce that the Cochrane District Services Board (CDSB) has donated a retired ambulance and Power Cot to its Paramedic program.
The ambulance will provide students with essential, real experiential learning opportunities.

"This donation is a remarkable example of collaboration, providing the Paramedic program with a significant asset for training," stated Mitch Dumas, President & CEO of Northern College. "This ambulance will provide students with hands-on experience in a real-world setting, including the valuable opportunity to train in a moving ambulance."
"This not only enhances their training, but also prepares them for the fast-paced, unpredictable nature of paramedicine," added Dumas.
Northern College offers its students the highest quality education, implemented through modern and relevant equipment thanks to the generosity of partners like the CDSB.
"CDSB has always been a steadfast and accommodating community partner in our broader efforts to ensure that our graduates are well equipped to fill sorely needed positions in the field of paramedicine," stated Sarah Campbell, Dean of Health Sciences and Emergency Services at Northern. "Our students participate 576 hours of placement with CDSB and the results show for themselves, seven of our graduates were hired by the Cochrane District Paramedic Service last year."
The partnership and the talent pipeline created through it, has become essential to ensuring that the CDSB has access to new, highly trained graduates from Northern, year after year.
"This donation is about more than a vehicle - it's an investment in the future of paramedic services in the Cochrane District," shared Marc Renaud, Acting Paramedic Chief at CDSB. "Through this donation, the CDSB is helping ensure that students receive hands-on, real-world training that mirrors the environments they'll soon be working in. We're proud to help support the next generation of paramedics."
"The CDSB's partnership with Northern College is the cornerstone of our commitment to strengthening paramedic services across the North," stated Brian Marks, Chief Administrative Officer of CDSB. "We're not only equipping future paramedics with the tools they need to learn and succeed, but ensuring that our communities continue to receive high-quality, responsive care. This collaboration reflects our shared vision of a healthier, safer Northern Ontario."
Over many years, Northern College's partnership with CDSB serves as an example of how educational programs and local services can work together to provide students with a well-rounded, practical education with tangible job opportunities after graduation.
