HOLLAND COLLEGE
College expands key programs to meet workforce demand

June 4, 2025

Holland College is increasing capacity in three high-demand programs to help address labour shortages on Prince Edward Island.

Starting in the fall 2025 academic year, the college will expand the Construction Electrical program by 24 seats, add 10 to the Plumbing and Pipefitting program, and increase the Resident Care Worker program by six seats at the Prince of Wales Campus.

The additional capacity will help alleviate the waitlists for these programs and support industry partners struggling to find skilled workers.

The expansion reflects the college's commitment to addressing critical skill gaps while supporting student goals, says Holland College President and CEO, Alexander (Sandy) MacDonald.

"We're listening to our industry partners and taking steps to ensure the training we provide is aligned with the demand for workers," he said. "By increasing our capacity, more students can access the hands-on training they need for careers that are in demand here on the Island."

The seats are expected to be filled by applicants currently on the waitlist, but new applications will be considered.
