Selkirk College is pleased to announce the establishment of the Selkirk Ion-source Research Centre (SIRC) a ground-breaking initiative made possible through a generous donation from D-Pace, a Nelson-based leader in the global particle accelerator industry.
The contribution, valued at nearly $1 million by Selkirk College, includes cutting-edge technology that will enable hands-on education and advanced research and innovation in rural British Columbia.
This milestone marks a significant expansion of the long-standing partnership between Selkirk College and D-Pace, underscoring a shared commitment to advancing innovation, education and community development in the region.

Creating Opportunities in High-Demand Fields
The SIRC will provide Selkirk College students with opportunities to engage in the high-demand field of particle acceleration. By working with world-class technology, students will gain valuable hands-on experience that can open doors to careers in science, engineering and innovation.

"This donation has enabled the college to apply for several complementary grants under the leadership of Dr. Morgan Dehnel, SIRC chair including funding for research and the hiring of vocational, undergraduate and graduate student interns. This game-changing partnership empowers students to engage in cutting-edge scientific research right here in rural BC."
