He was selected to receive the prestigious Governor General's Emergency Medical Service Exemplary Service Medal, an honor that celebrates exemplary service rather than just longevity in the field.
Throughout his distinguished career, Prof. Lassaline has been a trailblazer in the paramedic profession. His commitment to the growth of paramedicine extends beyond the streets and into the classroom, where he currently serves as the coordinator and a professor in the Paramedic program at St. Clair College.
"John's dedication and passion for paramedicine have profoundly impacted both our students and the Paramedic program," said Dr. Stephanie De Franceschi, Chair of the School of Health Sciences at St. Clair College. "His leadership and mentorship have helped shape confident, skilled professionals who are ready to serve their communities."
"We are proud to celebrate his exemplary service and ongoing commitment to excellence in education here at St. Clair College," Dr. De Franceschi said.
In addition to receiving the medal, Prof. Lassaline was awarded his first bar, a recognition granted after 30 years of exemplary service. The medal committee highlighted his continued dedication not only as a paramedic but also as an educator shaping future generations of paramedics.
"John has spent his entire life pushing our profession forward. Whether it was on the front line, providing care to our community, leading a team of paramedics as a District Chief, or now, educating the next generation of paramedics, his career has been exemplary," said Essex-Windsor EMS Chief Justin Lammers. "To watch John receive this medal in front of his colleagues and family was an absolute highlight. Bravo, John!"
Prof. Lassaline's achievements serve as an inspiration to paramedics and educators alike, embodying the true spirit of service and excellence in emergency medical care.
