As part of its thought-provoking Perspectives: Canada in the World annual speaker series, Red Deer Polytechnic (RDP) is proud to welcome renowned journalist Andrew Coyne as the feature speaker at the RDP Arts Centre on October 29 at 7 pm.

Coyne, a leading voice in Canadian political journalism and author of The Crisis of Canadian Democracy, has been providing insightful commentary on significant political and economic events that impact Canada and the world for more than 20 years. The current Globe and Mail columnist and former national editor of Maclean's magazine is skilled at sparking meaningful dialogue.
"We are excited to welcome Andrew Coyne to RDP and continue the long-standing tradition of offering Perspectives for faculty, staff, students and members of our communities," says Dr. Robbie Halonen, Dean, School of Arts and Education, Red Deer Polytechnic. "For more than 20 years, the Polytechnic has provided unique opportunities for audiences to engage with national speakers through Perspectives that have deep economic, social and cultural impact."
Beyond print journalism, Coyne contributes regularly to international publications and is a frequent commentator on radio and television, including as a panellist on the At Issue segment on CBC's The National.
Since its launch in 2002 by Red Deer Polytechnic's Department of Humanities and Social Sciences, this public lecture series has welcomed internationally acclaimed speakers to explore issues that matter locally, nationally and globally. Past speakers at Perspectives have included notable Canadians, including astronaut Chris Hadfield, author Margaret Atwood and humanitarian Amanda Lindhout.
Proceeds from Perspectives: Canada in the World support future Perspectives events and scholarship funds for RDP students, helping to sustain the series' legacy of intellectual engagement and community enrichment.
