Full-time support staff at Ontario colleges have voted to ratify a renewal collective agreement.
During a five-day ratification vote, concluding on November 4, 2025, 75 per cent of the union membership voted 89 per cent in support of the terms of the new tentative agreement.
The tentative agreement was reached after a weekend-long private mediation session with Mediator William Kaplan broke a bargaining impasse and ended a five-week strike on October 15, 2025.
"Support staff play an important role in our colleges, supporting operations and contributing to student success," said Graham Lloyd, CEO of CEC. "We are grateful to have them back to work and that they ratified the new Collective Agreement."
As part of this agreement, full-time support staff employees will receive:
- wage increases of $1.05/hr, 2 per cent, and 2 per cent, over three years;
- enhanced severance;
- increased shift and on-call premiums;
- enhanced vacation carry-over rights;
- increased vision and hearing aid benefits;
- expanded bereavement leave;
- domestic or sexual violence leave of up to five paid days; and
- stronger protections related to technological changes.
"We thank Mediator Kaplan for his efforts to help the parties reach a fair agreement that will benefit the employees, students, and college system," said Lloyd. "Colleges look forward to working with these valued employees to continue providing students with a world-class education and an exceptional college experience."
The new collective agreement three-year term spans September 1, 2025 to August 31, 2028.
