The legacy of a pioneering Canadian cardiologist continues to inspire the next generation of healthcare professionals through the Dr. Robert Brown Memorial Scholarship, established in 2024 to honour the life and work of Dr. Robert Brown, who passed away in October 2023.

Dr. Brown, a respected cardiologist who practiced in both Ontario and British Columbia, was widely regarded as a trailblazer in the emerging field of angioplasty. Throughout his career, he championed collaboration within healthcare teams and was a passionate advocate for Registered Cardiology Technologists (RCTs), recognizing their vital role in patient care and cardiac diagnostics.
In tribute to his lifelong dedication to advancing cardiovascular medicine, the scholarship was created to support students pursuing careers in this field.
This year's recipient, Jenna Lampron, a second-year Cardiovascular Technology student at St. Clair College, was awarded $3,000 to help fund her education.
Lampron shared her gratitude for receiving the award.
"Inspired by my family's experience with heart disease, I have developed a deep passion for this field. I am truly grateful for this scholarship, which will support me as I continue my journey toward becoming a Cardiovascular Technologist," Lampron said. "Thank you again for this incredible honour."
Through the Dr. Robert Brown Memorial Scholarship, Dr. Brown's legacy of innovation, compassion, and mentorship lives on - encouraging aspiring technologists like Lampron to continue shaping the future of cardiac care in Canada.
