The Northern Lights College Foundation has been named Non-Profit of the Year at the Dawson Creek & District Chamber of Commerce Community Awards!

This recognition celebrates the Foundation's ongoing commitment to supporting students and strengthening communities across Northern BC. Since 1981, the Foundation has worked with donors, partners, and volunteers to remove barriers to education and create opportunities for learners to thrive.
Here are just a few ways the Foundation gives back to students:
- Each year, the Foundation distributes hundreds of scholarships, bursaries, and awards including entrance awards of up to $3,000 for new students and $1,000 awards for adult learners beginning their studies.
- In the 2024/2025 fiscal year they handed out more than $330,000 in funds to 253 students.
- The Foundation's first annual Giving Day brought NLC campuses and communities together to raise funds that support student wellness, from food security and mental health to fitness and recreation.
- The launch of the Astra awards platform has made applying for scholarships simpler and faster, helping more students access the funding they need.
- Local partnerships continue to make a difference like Shell Canada's $30,000 donation to fund hands-on summer camps in trades, nursing, and robotics for youth aged 12-16 across the region.
Winning Non-Profit of the Year is a reflection of the generosity of donors, the hard work of staff and volunteers, and the determination of NLC students who inspire it all.
The Foundation is proud to be part of a community that believes in the power of education and continues to invest in the future of the North.
