On November 1, 2025, George Brown students earned third place at the Association for Supply Chain Management (ASCM) Toronto Chapter Student Case Competition, competing against teams from colleges and universities across the Toronto region.
The Supply Chain Management team, which included Anatoliy Mandra, Ying-Han Chen, Anna Romanok, and Arshita, represented George Brown against institutions such as the University of Toronto, York University, Durham College, and Conestoga College, showcasing their industry readiness with a strong performance.
"During the Case Competition, the student team applied their supply chain management expertise to tackle complex business challenges," said faculty advisor William Wang. "They demonstrated strong professional credibility and delivered impressive solutions with clarity and confidence to industry leaders."
This year's case focused on developing post-transformation supply chain priorities for a national pet retail company, challenging students to think critically and creatively.
Challenging students with real-world scenarios
The annual ASCM Case Competition offers undergraduate and graduate students practical experience in supply chain management through real-world strategic challenges. Teams work on end-to-end supply chain problems based on actual scenarios, presenting solutions to industry practitioners from Deloitte's supply chain practice and ASCM staff members. The competition provides students with valuable exposure to industry standards, networking opportunities with ASCM professionals who serve as mentors, and hands-on experience in negotiation, innovation, and strategic thinking.
Faculty advisers Sam Lampropoulos, Robert Ruggieri, Hydeh Mottaghi, Payman Ahi, Malcolm D'Souza, and William Wang supported the team throughout the process, with Wang attending the event and providing in-person support alongside the students.
"Competitions like this provide an excellent opportunity for our students to apply their learning to complex, real-world business challenges," said Dr. Nadira Singh, Associate Dean for the School of Management. "We are especially proud of this team's performance representing George Brown against some of Toronto's top institutions and are grateful to our dedicated faculty advisers who mentor our students to succeed every time."
This third-place finish is a notable achievement amid a competitive field and highlights the strength of George Brown's Supply Chain Management programs in preparing students for careers in the field.
