On January 15, faculty, staff and students gathered to help plan Vanier College's future that will eventually be mapped out in the new Strategic Plan 2026-2031.

The day started with a welcome from Vanier's Director General, Benoit Morin and a keynote address by Jessica Riddell, of Hopes Circuit Institute.
Participants then split up into smaller groups to identify objectives and indicators for each of the proposed strategic priorities. The strategic priorities had been drafted following numerous consultations (written surveys, discussion groups, engagement activities and in class workshops with students) that had taken place in the past year.
After lunch, participants exchanged ideas and observations in a plenary session, then closed the day with a cocktail hour featuring music by a Vanier student jazz trio.
The ideas that emerged from the day are currently on display in the carrefour of the college so that even members of the Vanier community who did not attend the day-long event can take stock of the ideas and views that emerged from the event.
Next, the strategic planning working group will consolidate the ideas generated during all the various consultations to share with the community before writing the first draft. The Colleges aims to adopt the new Strategic Plan in September 2026.
"It was inspiring to see employees and students unite to envision the future of our college. The ideas generated truly showcase the remarkable creativity and deep-rooted engagement of our community," says Benoit Morin, Director General of Vanier College.
