Student projects from 20 programs across the schools of Engineering & Technology and Applied Computer Science & Information Technology were on display at Tech Showcase to determine the recipients of the college's MasterCraft Award.

Hosted at the Cambridge - Fountain Street campus on April 28, the biannual event features best-of-program final-year projects. Students are on hand to explain and demonstrate their work to a panel of industry representatives who judge based on innovation, creativity, skill and quality.
Woodworking Technician student Jun-Yi Lin received top honour in Engineering & Technology for their project titled Dialogue in Wood - A Prototype of a Multifunctional Cabinet. Lin's project explored both form and function through a redefined design language through a foundational system capable of evolving into a full family of furniture. The design features interchangeable infill units, including book storage, display modules, drawers, a rotating platform and integrated lighting, allowing adaptability and modular growth. The work represents an expandible design system that reflects both craftsmanship and conceptual depth.
Students Andrei Haboc, Jasmine Kaur, Salman Nouman and Karandeep Sandhu from the Software Engineering Technology program were awarded top honour in Applied Computer Science & Information Technology for their project, Augi (Your Fixing Companion). The innovative Android-based augmented reality (AR) application is designed to transform how users interact with physical devices and their documentation. Addressing the challenge of lost or complex user manuals, Augi allows users to point their mobile camera at a device and receive intuitive, step-by-step repair guidance directly overlaid onto the object.
With their top honours, Lin, Haboc, Kaur, Nouman and Sandhu will be presented with Conestoga's Mastercraft Award at their Convocation. Established in 1980 by former president Kenneth E. Hunter, the award recognizes excellence in program-related skills and includes a Coat of Arms and a monetary prize.
Other projects presented at Tech Showcase included an application for meal prepping from Computer Applications Development students, a job market analytics platform from Computer Programming and Analysis students, an embedded safety system for forklifts by Computer Engineering Technology students, and a space to combine school, community and retirement living to support innovative learning models and intergenerational connection by a Bachelor of Interior Design (Honours) student.
Conestoga's School of Engineering & Technology offers a comprehensive suite of engineering and technology programs with a wide range of credentials. The School of Applied Computer Science & Information Technology offers leading-edge programs that will prepare students for an exciting career in the innovative world of Information and Communications Technology.
