We celebrated the official opening of the Northern Lakes College Mobile Trades Lab in Drayton Valley on September 11!
This exciting initiative will expand access to skilled trades education, bringing hands-on training opportunities directly to our region and creating new pathways to careers in the trades close to home.

The Mobile Trades Lab represents a significant investment in education, workforce development, and the future of our communities. Beginning this month September 2026 students will have access to Pre-Employment Carpentry training, with Electrical training planned for Winter 2027.
A sincere thank you to our community partners, educators, industry supporters, and elected officials for joining us to mark this important milestone.
We would like to extend our appreciation to:
- Mayor Nancy Dodds, Town of Drayton Valley
- Acting Reeve Dallas Ekstrom, Brazeau County
- Minister of Advanced Education Myles McDougall
- MLA Andrew Boitchenko
- Northern Lakes College President, Glenn Mitchell
- Maria Mayan from the University of Alberta
Thank you for your support of accessible education, skilled trades training, and workforce development in our region. Your partnership and commitment are helping create new opportunities for local residents and strengthening the future of our communities.
