CONESTOGA COLLEGE
Digital badges give Conestoga micro-credential students a new way to showcase their skills

October 20, 2026

Conestoga students who complete a micro-credential can showcase their newly acquired skills and competencies through a digital badge designed to be easily shared with employers and professional networks.

Issued upon successful completion of all courses within a micro-credential, the digital badge provides students with a portable record of their achievement and a way to make the skills they have developed more visible.

Each badge contains embedded information identifying the competencies demonstrated by the student, along with the evidence and criteria required to earn the credential. This allows employers and others viewing the badge to better understand what the student accomplished through the program.

"Digital badges give students a meaningful way to showcase the skills they have developed through a Conestoga micro-credential," said Brenda Bender, Associate Registrar, Academic Records, Registration & Enrolment Reporting. "We encourage students to share their badge to highlight their achievement. It's a way to make their learning visible and show employers and professional networks the competencies they have gained."

Badges are available through MyCreds, Canada's digital credential platform. Students can download a copy of their badge or share their achievement by email, on social media or directly to their LinkedIn profile.

The digital badges complement Conestoga's growing selection of micro-credentials, which provide focused learning opportunities designed to help individuals develop skills relevant to the workplace.

Micro-credentials are shorter than traditional academic programs and focus on specific competencies, making them an option for individuals looking to build on existing knowledge, respond to changing industry needs or develop skills in a particular area.

The opportunity to earn and share a digital badge provides an additional benefit to completing a micro-credential. By making the skills behind the credential visible and verifiable, badges give students a practical way to communicate what they know and can do as they continue their education and careers.
