Experienced academic leader, neurologist to begin tenure on March 19
Marianopolis College announced the appointment of Penelope Kostopoulos, PhD, as the College's Associate Dean, Student Success, effective March 19, 2018.
"The student is at the centre of our learning community," said Academic Dean Eric Lozowy. "Supporting student success is critical at Marianopolis. Penelope is well-equipped for this leadership role in the development and implementation of activities and services related to student success at both the academic and personal level."
Dr. Kostopoulos earned a Bachelor's in Early Childhood Education at the University of Patras in her native Greece (1998). She earned a doctorate (2008) and master's (2002) in Science from McGill University. Her research was supported by the Canadian Institutes of Health Research, the Natural Sciences and Engineering Research Council of Canada and Fonds de recherche du Québec - Santé funding, as well as recognized with the Canadian Psychological Association Certificate of Academic Excellence and the Canadian Institutes of Health Research Brain Star Award. She taught Psychology at the CEGEP level for the last two years, gleaning valuable knowledge about the colleges network and its students
Fluent in English, French and Greek, for the last decade Dr. Kostopoulos has been conducting extensive research at the Montreal Neurological Institute, where she acted as scientific advisor for international networks in autism and neurodegenerative disorders.
