A group of Humber students were thrilled when they placed first at last month's Marketing Research and Intelligence Association (MRIA) student competition in Vancouver.
The trio - Tanzin Sulaiman, Nadia Nasir and Winsome Stec - had to develop a research proposal based on a case about recreational cannabis. They had one day to put together the proposal and a 10-minute video presentation.
"Initially we had to write a short paragraph about why we wanted to participate in the competition," Sulaiman, a research analyst student, said. "Based on that, 22 teams from different universities and colleges were selected."
The three, all in the research analyst program, beat teams from two other colleges to capture first place.
"When they announced Humber College (as the winner) we were ecstatic!" Sulaiman said. "Everyone in the auditorium was applauding and cheering for us. It's an amazing feeling, being recognized among a group of established researchers.
"I learned a lot more about research under the guidance of knowledgeable professors and I got the chance to network with many industry professionals."
