HUMBER COLLEGE
The Barrett Centre for Technology Innovation progresses towards completion

September 14, 2018

The large, angular building under construction behind the bus loop may have surprised those of you returning to North Campus after a summer off (or starting here for the first time).

That building, the Barrett Centre for Technology Innovation (Barrett CTI), comes closer each day to becoming a powerhouse of innovation. Students, faculty and staff will work together with companies large and small to help with the technological and innovation challenges facing Canada's manufacturing industry and beyond.

Partnerships with CiscoFesto Didactic and SEW-EURODRIVE are already in place, with additional partnership announcements anticipated in the coming weeks. This means the Barrett CTI will be home to technology that is not available at any other postsecondary institution in Canada.

Once complete in early 2019, the Barrett CTI's 93,000 square-foot space will feature a datacentre, cyber physical factory, automated guided vehicles, prototyping labs, makerspaces, interactive technology zones and digital media studios.

Check out our photos of the construction in progress and renderings of what the space will look like once complete. Click or tap here to watch the construction as it happens.
