NIAGARA COLLEGE
NC Teaching Brewery taps into two medals at Canadian Brewing Awards

May 10, 2019

National accolades continue to pour in for the Niagara College Teaching Brewery with two new wins at the Canadian Brewing Awards (CBA).

Two popular student-crafted brews from Canada's first Teaching Brewery - Beer 101 Bitter and Beer 101 Strong - were announced as bronze medal winners at Canada's premiere craft brewing competition, held May 2-4 in Toronto. The 17th annual CBA event drew a record number of participants, with more than 2,000 entries from 308 breweries across Canada. Beer 101 Bitter won bronze in the English Bitters/ Ordinary or Special Bitter/ Best Bitter or ESB category, while Beer 101 Strong earned a bronze in the Scotch Ale category.

This marks the third year the NC Teaching Brewery has won at the CBA event; however, it is the first time it has won two CBA medals the same year. Both of this year's winning brews area also repeat CBA winners; Butler's Bitter, the bottled version of Beer 101 Bitter, won gold in 2013, and Beer 101 Strong won silver in 2018.
