Shaun Barr, Chair of Construction Trades and Building Systems and the Perth Campus(Acting), has been elected to the Canadian Apprenticeship Forum's (CAF) Board of Directors for a four-year term. As the Head of Apprenticeship Training for Algonquin, Barr has been an active member of CAF over the last six years, attending many of the CAF events as a facilitator, presenter, and panel contributor.
"I am honoured and excited to represent Algonquin at the national level on the apprenticeship file," said Barr. "Working closely with CAF and stakeholders from across the country will help strengthen the apprenticeship programming at Algonquin."
Apprenticeship combines classroom study with on-the-job experience that lets students earn a living while learning a skilled trade.
The Canadian Apprenticeship Forum "is the only organization that brings together apprenticeship stakeholders from across trades, across sectors and across Canada to share information and promising practices, identify challenges and propose joint solutions" and acts as a national voice for the apprenticeship community.
