ALGONQUIN COLLEGE
College Appoints Melissa Staddon to the position of Academic Advising Coordinator, Academic Operations and Planning

October 28, 2019

I am pleased to announce the appointment of Melissa Staddon to the position of Academic Advising Coordinator, Academic Operations and Planning, effective October 21, 2019.  In her new role, Melissa will be responsible for coordinating academic advising and program orientation initiatives across the College in collaboration with key stakeholders.

Melissa joins us from Academic Development where she has held the position of Project Coordinator for the past year and a half. During that time, Melissa led a number of large, externally funded research projects that sought to reduce student barriers to transfer mobility within Ontario. Most recently, she was the lead researcher on a project funded by the Ontario Council of Articulation and Transfer (ONCAT) to examine the profiles and pathways of Canadian Armed Forces Veterans in Ontario. Melissa was also part of the team that helped orient faculty to the new Learning Management System, Brightspace.

Before joining Algonquin, Melissa gained over four years of academic advising experience at Carleton University as an Undergraduate Program Advisor for the Sprott School of Business and also as an Advisor in Carleton's centralized Academic Advising Centre.

Melissa holds a Bachelor of Arts Honours in Psychology from Carleton University and a Master of Arts in Educational Counselling from the University of Ottawa.

Please join me in welcoming Melissa to her new role.
