CARLTON TRAIL COLLEGE

December 16, 2019

Carlton Trail College and Touchwood Agency Tribal Council (TATC) have partnered to strengthen access to learning and employment opportunities for individuals within the region.  Effective this fall, a special agreement sees TATC's Labour Force Development Program operating out of Carlton Trail College's Four Winds Learning Centre in Punnichy.

"It was a natural fit," said Andrew Burgess, VP Finance for Carlton Trail College. "As the College connects learners to further education and training, we wanted to support TATC's ability to focus on skills development for Indigenous residents in the area. Sharing a location helps both of our organizations do just that."

"The Four Winds Learning Centre is a welcoming and culturally-sensitive space," said D'nita Kahnapace-Bird, Labour Force Development Client Case Worker. "We're pleased to be located with Carlton Trail College as we inspire and support our clients."

The TATC Labour Force Development Program supports the advancement of training and employment initiatives to assist Indigenous residents enter the workforce.  TATC promotes and supports career training and employment opportunities for Indigenous residents living in the Day Star, George Gordon, Kawacatoose and Muskowekwan First Nations communities, as well as those living in the surrounding towns and villages.
