Calling all Mohawk College students and staff! Dust off your Mountaineers gear!
Beginning Saturday, Nov. 6 students and college staff who are double vaccinated and have approved access to be on campus will be welcomed back as spectators inside the David Braley Athletics and Recreation Centre for all Mohawk sporting events.
A total of 624 days have gone by since the last Mountaineers home game with fans in the stands.
"We are looking forward to seeing students and staff back inside DBARC to cheer on our indoor teams," said Matt Ferreira, director of athletics and recreation. "Thank you to our College partners for working diligently with us on finding a safe return for spectators."
At this time community members (alumni, parents and family) will not be permitted spectators. We continue to work with the college to develop a strategy that will safely welcome our family and friends back inside DBARC.
Saturday's contest will feature the Mohawk Mountaineers basketball teams hosting the George Brown Huskies in exhibition play. The women will tip-off at 2 p.m. and the men's game will follow at 4 p.m.
The return of students and staff spectators aligns with recent updates to Ontario's COVID-19 guidelines as outlined by the provincial government.
What you need to know prior to entry:
- Students and staff attending the games are asked to enter through the G Wing entrance on campus.
- Please download the MohawkSafety app - upload your vaccine record. (Ontario proof of vaccine record does not count).
- Prior to arriving on campus the day of, complete the COVID-19 screening assessment in the MohawkSafety app.
- Both your vaccine record and COVID-19 screening assessment must be shown to security upon entry.
- Masks must be worn at all-times while indoors.
- Fans will be asked to show their wristbands prior to entering the DBARC gymnasium.
