The Nunavut Arctic College is proud to celebrate the 35th anniversary of the Environmental Technology Program (ETP), a unique and comprehensive program that incorporates classroom, laboratory, and fieldwork learning. Since 1987, the ETP has been graduating "Made-in-Nunavut" Environmental Practitioners. Today, the program's esteemed alumni, 90% of whom are Inuit, can be found working in some of the most exciting careers across Nunavut.
Inuit societal values have been fundamental to the 2-year diploma program since its inception. Inuit Qaujimajatuqangit principals are integrated through Elders, hunters, and Inuit professionals who are brought into the classroom to share their knowledge.
One of the program's greatest strengths lies in the invaluable support it receives from our partners and alumni. Nunavut Arctic College also acknowledges the Government of Nunavut, the Federal Government, Inuit organizations, Institutes of Public Government, and other companies throughout Nunavut that have continuously contributed to the program to ensure a dynamic and relevant curriculum.
These 35 years have been possible due to the high demand from the public and our current and former instructors who have helped deliver this program successfully. Nunavut Arctic College would also like to recognize all Nunavummiut that have applied and have become students of the program. Our students are our strength, and they're the reason for our faculty's hard work.
As the environmental sector continues to grow, the Nunavut Arctic College remains committed to the ongoing success of the Environmental Technology Program, more graduates, and the positive impacts and contributions alumni make towards Nunavut.
The ETP looks forward to preparing Nunavummiut for exciting and rewarding careers for another 35 years.
