On Wednesday, May 24, the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury Council members gathered with staff and students from Holy Trinity Catholic High School for the highly anticipated logo unveiling event for the upcoming Ontario Federation of School Athletic Associations (OFSAA) Boys AA Soccer Championship. The event, held at 3:30 p.m., marked an exciting milestone leading up to the championship, scheduled to take place at Henderson Memorial Park from June 8-10, 2023.

The logo unveiling event served as a symbol of unity and enthusiasm, as the local community joined forces to host this prestigious soccer tournament. Council members including Mayor James Leduc, Deputy Mayor Raj Sandhu, Councillor Jonathan Scott, along with representatives from the Parks & Recreation Department led by Nick Ovington, and accompanied by Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board Superintendent of Student Engagement and Learning Scot Gorecki, and Principal Heinrich Bebie, demonstrated their commitment to showcasing Bradford West Gwillimbury as a vibrant and welcoming destination for school sports in the area.

The OFSAA Boys AA Soccer Championship is an annual tournament that brings together 20 teams of talented young athletes from secondary schools across Ontario. This year's event, to be held at Henderson Memorial Park, is expected to attract families from various regions, creating a thrilling atmosphere of competition and sportsmanship.

During the logo unveiling ceremony, the Council members and Holy Trinity Catholic High School staff and students expressed their pride in hosting back to back championships, having convened OFSAA Girls AA Soccer last year, and the excitement that comes with welcoming athletes, coaches, and spectators to their town. The logo proves to be a captivating visual representation of the event as it combines elements of soccer, teamwork, and the town's unique heritage.

In attendance was Deputy Mayor Raj Sandhu, who addressed the gathering, stating, "We are honored to be hosting the OFSAA Boys AA Soccer Championship here in Bradford West Gwillimbury. This event provides a wonderful opportunity for our community to showcase our outstanding facilities, our warm hospitality, and the passion we have for sports. We look forward to welcoming all participants and providing an unforgettable experience."

The logo unveiling event not only marked the countdown to the OFSAA Boys AA Soccer Championship but also provided a platform for local businesses and organizations to demonstrate their support. This OFSAA Championship would not be possible without the support of so many local organizations.

As the tournament approaches, the Town of Bradford West Gwillimbury is buzzing with anticipation, eagerly preparing to welcome athletes, their families, and soccer enthusiasts from across the province. The OFSAA Boys AA Soccer Championship promises to be a thrilling event, showcasing the talent and sportsmanship of young athletes and fostering a sense of community pride among all involved.
