Chief Superintendent Appointed for Edmonton Catholic Schools

May 30, 2023

Following a nationwide search, the Board of Trustees is pleased to announce that a new Chief Superintendent of Schools and Chief Executive Officer (CEO) has been chosen for the Edmonton Catholic School Division.

Lynnette Anderson will begin her new role as Chief Superintendent on August 1, 2023. Lynnette has an exemplary record with over 27 years in education as a teacher, consultant, assistant principal, principal, division principal, and superintendent. She has worked in three different school authorities: Grande Prairie and District Catholic Schools, Grande Yellowhead Public School Division, and for the last 20 years at Edmonton Catholic Schools. Lynnette also spent two years on a secondment in the French Language and Education Branch at Alberta Education.

"Our Board is excited to journey with Lynnette Anderson as she brings to fruition her vision for Edmonton Catholic Schools," shared Board Chair Sandra Palazzo. "With her outstanding leadership abilities, unwavering dedication to excellence, and steadfast belief in Catholic education, Lynnette is the right choice for CEO. We are confident that she will steer us towards even greater heights, empowering our students and nurturing their spiritual and academic growth."

Lynnette holds a Bachelor of Education degree, as well as a Master of Education degree focused on early literacy, both from the University of Alberta. She replaces Chief Superintendent Robert Martin, who announced his intention to retire in March 2023.

"As the incoming Chief Superintendent, I am honoured to serve the Board, staff, parents, and students of Edmonton Catholic Schools," said Lynnette Anderson. "I believe that meaningful relationships are the key to a positive environment of collaboration and student learning. Working together, we can draw strength from each other as we aspire towards the message in Galatians 6:9, Let us not become weary in doing good, for at the proper time we will reap a harvest if we do not give up.' I will lead the Division in a way that cultivates a culture of innovation and excellence within a faith-filled, welcoming, caring, and inclusive environment. My commitment to Catholic education is bringing students, staff, and families together to experience the love of God daily."

Lynnette is married to Jay, and they have two teenage sons. They are members of St. Alphonsus Parish in Edmonton.
