In her role as Mentorship Coordinator, Mrs. Horsman provided support and coaching to vice-principals across the division, specifically in the area of instructional coaching and teacher mentorship. Her expertise in fostering professional growth and developing effective mentoring relationships has been instrumental in building strong educational leadership within our schools.
Additionally, Mrs. Horsman served as a Mentor Coach, offering support and guidance to all new teachers within High Prairie School Division during their first and second year. Her coaching encompassed all aspects of instruction and classroom management, ensuring a smooth transition and setting the foundation for their successful teaching careers.
Mrs. Horsman holds a Bachelor of Education from the University of Alberta, which has provided her with a solid academic background and pedagogical skills. Her commitment to ongoing professional development is evident through her involvement in various committees and working groups. Notably, she has actively contributed to the HPSD Workplace Wellness Committee, promoting a positive and supportive work environment for staff members.
Furthermore, Mrs. Horsman has collaborated with Zone 1 working groups to create curriculum support documents in the subjects of numeracy, ELAL (English Language Arts and Literacy), and science. Her dedication to curriculum development and alignment has positively impacted teaching and learning across our school division.
As the new Vice Principal of C.J. Schurter School, Mrs. Horsman is poised to make a meaningful impact on the students, staff, and community. Her extensive teaching experience, leadership skills, and commitment to professional growth will contribute to the continued success and growth of the school.
Mrs. Horsman will be assuming the role from current Vice Principal Jodi McMahon. Mrs. McMahon will be assuming the role of Learning Support Teacher at E.G. Wahlstrom School in the upcoming school year to leverage her skill and expertise, especially in the areas of literacy and inclusion, to provide excellent support to our students and staff.
