The work has started!
Construction on the new Pleasant Valley Secondary School gym began on Monday, August 14 and is expected to continue for 65 weeks with the completion date set for November 13, 2024!
"We are very happy to see construction started," says School District No. 83 (North Okanagan-Shuswap) Secretary Treasurer Dale Culler.
The $11,798,870 winning bid to build the gym was submitted by Sawchuk Developments, adds Director of Operations Travis Elwood. He notes that SD83 Project Manager Ed Hildebrandt will continue to work with KMBR Architects and Sawchuk to ensure the project stays on budget and on schedule.
The school district would like to once again thank the City of Armstrong, Township of Spallumcheen, and the entire community for its support. Since the gym was deemed unsafe when previously unknown damage was discovered in 2021, there has been incredible support for the efforts to provide physical education programs in alternate spaces. Thank you!
SD83 would also like to thank the PVSS staff for its flexibility and creativity in order to offer physical education and extra curricular programs to students.
Further information about this project will be coming out soon.
