Northland School Division (NSD) is pleased to announce that Director of First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education Debbie Mineault has been selected as the 2023 Outstanding Indigenous Educator of the Year Award. The award is presented by the Alberta Teachers' Association's (ATA's) Indigenous Education Council.
The ATA's Indigenous Education Council is a professional organization for teachers, associate members of the ATA and university students. Given the changes to the provincial curriculum and the Teaching Quality Standard with regards to First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education inclusion, the council strives to provide resources and projects for members to explore with students.
The Outstanding Indigenous Educator of the Year Award is for a teacher, advocate and professional; who has made significant efforts in furthering First Nations, Métis and Inuit Education in Alberta. This person cares deeply about the success of Indigenous students, and has demonstrated leadership, and authentic inclusion of Indigenous voice and presence in Education.

Debbie will be presented the 2023 Outstanding Indigenous Educator Award on November 18, 2023.
