In St. John's, our schools are growing!

March 1, 2024

We are pleased to announce that the renovations at Rocher-du-Nord (RDN) School are nearing completion. In anticipation of the upcoming school year starting in September 2024, we are delighted to inform you about the opening of fifth and sixth-grade classes at Rocher-du-Nord, providing new educational opportunities for our students. Current fourth and fifth-grade students from École des Grands-Vents (ÉGV), who will be transferred to the new school, will have the opportunity to visit Rocher-du-Nord this spring. The school administration also extends an invitation to parents to tour the new facility.

The modifications to the school configuration at École des Grands-Vents and École Rocher-du-Nord aim to facilitate the expansion of our French-language programs and provide additional classrooms for families in St. John's. Rocher-du-Nord has undergone extensive renovations over the past two years, and we eagerly anticipate the arrival of our new students. This move to a new site aims to offer an enriched learning environment and greater opportunities for our older students. This strategic development not only strengthens Rocher-du-Nord but also contributes to the overall growth of both schools in St. John's.

Our unwavering commitment to providing the best educational experience for our students is reflected in this expansion. In addition to relocating the fifth and sixth-grade classes to Rocher-du-Nord, we are pleased to announce the early opening of pre-kindergarten classes at both École des Grands-Vents and Rocher-du-Nord in the fall of 2024. These classes will be under the direction of the Centre petite enfance et famille Les P'tits Cerfs-Volants (CPEF). École des Grands-Vents (ÉGV) will continue to embody a community and family atmosphere, being realigned as a pre-kindergarten to fourth-grade school. Meanwhile, Rocher-du-Nord will begin with pre-kindergarten classes in the fall, gradually expanding its primary classes on an annual basis, becoming the educational center for the youngest students on the southwest side of the city. We will welcome our first kindergarten class at Rocher-du-Nord in 2025.

This continued growth will enable the CSFP to expand our upper-grade classes, from fifth to twelfth grade, accommodating students from both schools. We are confident that these developments will not only enrich the educational experience for our students but also foster a sense of community and collaboration among all stakeholders. We look forward to seeing the positive impact of these changes on the ongoing growth and success of our schools.

We sincerely anticipate an inspiring school year ahead.
