The nominees are in, and 20 secondary students from across Surrey and White Rock are in the running for this year's Schulich Leader Scholarships, worth an astounding $100,000 to $120,000 each.
One Grade 12 student from nearly every secondary school in the district is among this year's 1,500 nominees, shortlisted from more than 300,000 applicants. The six-figure scholarship is for students who demonstrate a passion for science, technology, engineering and math (STEM).
This year's Surrey Schools nominees are:

Later this school year, the Schulich Leaders will select just 100 scholars. Half of the scholarships are valued at $120,000 for engineering, the other half are valued at $100,000 for science and math.
