The Simcoe Muskoka Catholic District School Board (SMCDSB) is pleased to announce the approval of a balanced operating budget totalling $340,116,553 for the 2024-2025 school year.
The Ministry of Education allocates funding for the board, primarily through Core Education Funding (formerly Grants for Student Needs) and Responsive Education Programs (formerly Priorities and Partnership Funding). The Board anticipates a slight increase in enrolment for the upcoming school year.
"We are pleased to be able to present a balanced budget," said Maria Hardie, Board Chair. "Despite the economic pressures facing the education sector, particularly in staffing, special education, transportation, and rising commodity prices, our commitment to student well-being and program pathways for success remains our focus. As a growing school board, we are excited to welcome students to the new St. André Bessette Catholic School in Innisfil this upcoming year."
The approved budget reflects the Board's commitment to maintaining high standards of education while addressing the financial realities of the current economic climate. It underscores the SMCDSB's dedication to supporting student achievement and success through well-being and inclusion initiatives.
