Clearview Public Schools Donates Books to Support Early Learning

September 10, 2024

Clearview Public Schools is excited to announce the recent purchase of a collection of books to be donated in support of early learning. This initiative aligns with the division's 2024-2027 Education Plan and its commitment to enhancing literacy through the implementation of the 3T Testing programming.

The chosen book, "I'll Love You Till the Cows Come Home" by Kathryn Cristaldi, has been highlighted by Director of Student Services, Candace Hodder.

"I'll Love You Till the Cows Come Home" is a great book for kids. It uses playful rhymes that support language development. The book features familiar animals, making it engaging and relatable for young readers. It also leaves kids feeling comforted through the heartwarming message of unconditional love."

The donation was made to the Stettler Community Health Center. Families visiting the center for vaccinations or checkups will receive a book courtesy of Clearview Public Schools, reinforcing our commitment to supporting literacy and early learning in the community.

Education Plan and Literacy Strategies

Clearview Public Schools is dedicated to fostering literacy development across all grade levels. The 2024-27 Education Plan outlines several key strategies:

  • Creation of a Clearview Literacy Framework: Defining the ongoing literacy work within the division.
  • 3T Literacy Assessments: Utilizing these assessments division-wide in Grades 1-9 (fall, winter, spring) to identify student gaps in literacy knowledge.
  • Evidence-Based Literacy Programs: Implementing programs like UFLI, Phonics Companion, and REWARDS to meet the diverse needs of students.
  • Professional Development: Engaging all Grade 4-9 staff in Literacy Instructional PD and providing Literacy Supports for Leadership PD to school administrators.
  • Systematic Phonics Instruction: Using explicit phonics/phonemic awareness instruction in Division 1 classrooms and with Division 2 Tier 2 & 3 students.
  • Collaborative Approach to Writing: Implementing a year-long collaborative approach to Grade 1-9 writing, including a Division writing task and rubric, and quarterly collaborative analysis of student learning meetings.

Clearview Public Schools remains committed to supporting the literacy and educational growth of all students. This book donation represents a significant step towards achieving our literacy goals and enhancing early learning experiences.
