District School Board Ontario North East (DSB1) is proud to expand continuing education opportunities by opening a second Programs in Alternative and Continuing Education (PACE) Centre.
The new PACE Centre is located at the Northern College Haileybury Campus. There, people wishing to complete their Ontario Secondary School Diploma (OSSD) will receive tailored support, including guidance services, Cooperative Education, Ontario Youth Apprenticeship opportunities, and more.
"This new centre demonstrates DSB1's unwavering commitment to its' vision of empowering all learners to achieve personal excellence," commented Steve Meunier, Chair of the Board.
Through the partnership with Northern College and a joint intake process, adult learners needing an OSSD can enroll in PACE, while adult learners wanting academic upgrading to enroll in a college program can enroll in the upgrading program at Northern College.
"We understand the incredible impact that obtaining an OSSD has on people's lives. We are confident that the supports offered at PACE, paired with the academic upgrading opportunities at Northern College will benefit the Temiskaming region," said Lesleigh Dye, Director of Education.
"The PACE Centre in Timmins has had so much success in the last few years. We are incredibly proud to build on that success and expand the continuing education opportunities to Temiskaming," adds Cathy Beauchamp, Pathways & Alternative Education Lead.
PACE is committed to promoting learning and supporting student pathways, experiences, resources, and community partners to meet students' needs and strengths.
In the last three years, 187 PACE students graduated with their OSSD.
