CONSEIL DES ÉCOLES CATHOLIQUES DU CENTRE-EST
The CECCE officially inaugurates its new sports dome at École secondaire catholique Garneau

September 23, 2024

It was with great pride that the Conseil des écoles catholiques du Centre-Est (CECCE) officially inaugurated the new sports dome at École secondaire catholique Garneau this afternoon. With federal and provincial MPs Marie-France Lalonde and Stephen Blais, along with many distinguished guests in attendance, the event was an unforgettable moment for the entire school community.

The new sports dome allows for the practice of a wide variety of sports year-round, protected from the weather, such as football, badminton, baseball, pickleball, basketball, volleyball, tennis, soccer, running or yoga. Other sports may be added based on community demand.

This high-quality facility enhances the sports-études program offered at École secondaire catholique Garneau, which includes three components to meet the diverse needs of students: the multisport component, the individual component and the high-performance component.

Key points regarding access and management of the dome:

  • The Ottawa TFC Soccer Club has been chosen as the partner to manage the dome's community facilities and reservation system during evenings and weekends.
  • The dome will be accessible to École secondaire catholique Garneau and CECCE elementary school students during the school day, as well as before and after school for the pursuit of extracurricular activities.
  • In the evenings and on weekends, the dome will be open to the entire Orléans community, enabling extended use for a variety of sports and community activities.
  • Partner sports associations will be able to reserve time slots for practices, training and other activities.

This brand-new sports dome will not only meet the needs of the school community, but also those of the entire Orleans community," says Johanne Lacombe, CECCE Chair.

"The CECCE is confident that the use of this high-quality, state-of-the-art sports facility will enable students to flourish both academically and physically. The Board is therefore very proud to be able to offer this exceptional facility, so eagerly awaited by this dynamic community," says Robert Rainboth, school trustee for the Orléans-Ouest-Innes sector.

We are fortunate to be surrounded by partners dedicated to the success and well-being of our students, such as the Ottawa TFC Soccer Club. The CECCE is infinitely grateful for your hard work and commitment to our youth," adds Marc Bertrand, Director of Education.

Pavel Cancura, General Manager of the Ottawa TFC Soccer Club, states: 'It is with great pride that we inaugurate this dome alongside the members of the CECCE today. This project represents a significant step forward in our efforts to promote sports excellence and enhance community well-being."
