St. Clair Catholic District School Board has announced a new partnership with Chatham-Kent Police Services, allowing the recently decommissioned St. Ursula Catholic School to be used for police training purposes. Starting this month, Chatham-Kent police teams will utilize the school for training sessions once a week, with each session lasting up to four hours.
As part of this partnership, community members may notice an increased presence of police officers and emergency response vehicles at the St. Ursula site and in the surrounding area. The Board assures the community that these activities are solely related to police training and are no cause for concern.
"We are proud to support our local police services in this way," says Scott Johnson, Director of Education for St. Clair Catholic. "Their presence not only enhances safety and security in our community, but it also reinforces the positive relationships we strive to build between law enforcement and our schools."
The Board believes that the partnership with Chatham-Kent Police will help deter inappropriate use of the property, such as loitering or vandalism, while the site awaits listing for sale.
St. Clair Catholic expressed appreciation for the St. Ursula Catholic School community's ongoing support during the transition. The Board remains committed to maintaining positive relations with neighbors and invites anyone with questions to reach out directly.
