At the inaugural Board meeting on November 5, 2024, the Delta Board of Education elected trustee Joe Muego to serve as Chairperson of the seven-member board for the upcoming year. He served as Vice-Chairperson last year and has been a member of the Delta Board of Education since October 2022.
Trustee Val Windsor was elected to the role of Vice-Chairperson for the upcoming year. She has served on the Delta Board of Education since 2011, most recently as Chairperson (since the fall of 2019) and was previously Vice-Chairperson from 2013-2018.
The Board of Education Chair and Vice-Chair are elected annually. The next Public Board Meeting will take place on Tuesday, December 10.
Joe Muego
While an architect by profession, as a trustee Joe Muego is passionate about fostering connected educational environments that prepare students to meaningfully contribute to their communities. As a champion of parent engagement, Joe had served in many executive PAC positions over 14 years. His service carried over to the Delta District PAC where he sat as vice-chair and ultimately chair - representing parents of all 31 public schools in Delta to the School Board, Superintendent and other education partners. His work as a trustee since being elected to the Board in 2022 includes serving on the BC School Trustees Association (BCSTA) Provincial Council, being a member of the Delta Council/Delta Board of Education Liaison Committee and chairing the school district's Audit Committee.
Val Windsor
Val Windsor is a retired teacher whose involvement in public education spans more than 50 years. She is also a past President of the Delta Teachers' Association, former BC Teachers Federation Executive member and has served as a school trustee since 2011. Her work as a trustee includes serving on the Equity, Diversity, Inclusion and Reconciliation Committee, the Inclusive Learning Advisory Committee and she continues to serve on the Metro Vancouver English Language Learners Consortium, a group that advocates for services for immigrant and refugee students and English language learners. Chair Windsor is also a dedicated and busy community volunteer in Delta.
