Grade 5 students at St. Patrick Catholic School had the exciting opportunity to engage with representatives from the Legislative Assembly of Ontario.
The presentation was highly engaging, with students participating in a hands-on mock debate and vote, mirroring the activities of the real legislative process. They took on roles as Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs), discussing key issues and then casting their votes, experiencing firsthand how decisions are made in government. This immersive experience helped bring the concepts of democracy, governance, and civic responsibility to life, allowing students to connect classroom learning with real-world practices.
By the end of the session, students not only had a deeper understanding of the legislative process but also gained valuable insights into the importance of their role as informed citizens.
