CAMPBELL RIVER SCHOOL DISTRICT
Ripple Rock Elementary Unveils Inspiring Mural

January 29, 2025

This fall, Ripple Rock Elementary proudly completed a beautiful mural that reflects the collective creativity and values of its students. The school-wide project began last school year, inviting students to explore a social responsibility theme that honours Indigenous world views and perspectives through short stories and artwork. The theme was - How we walk in the world.

Students reflected on how they want to be seen in the world and ways they can improve themselves, their friendships, their connection to nature, and their community. Some student artists had the incredible opportunity to collaborate with Lekwiltok artist Jessica Chickite, from the We Wai Kai First Nation, to refine their designs and contribute to a stunning large-scale piece.

The mural, now painted along the walkway to the portable at the back of the school, is a vibrant reminder of the power of social responsibility, creativity, and collaboration.
