Free access to Belleville public transit for students in Grades 9-12

We are pleased to announce an exciting partnership between Hastings and Prince Edward District School Board and the City of Belleville Transit Department to provide students in Grades 9-12 that attend Bayside, Eastside and Centennial secondary schools, with free access to public transit throughout the city.

This opportunity offers numerous benefits to students, including the following:

• Increased flexibility and accessibility: Students will have greater independence and convenience for attending school, work, events and other destinations.
• Expanded cooperative education opportunities: Students will be able to explore co-op placements in a broader range of locations, supporting varied and meaningful work experiences while earning credits.
• Enhanced experiential learning: Students can access learning activities, events and resources throughout the city that support curriculum-linked, hands-on learning.
• Alternative school travel: Students will have more options for getting to and from school, reducing reliance on personal transportation.
• Support for extracurricular participation: Students will be able to travel between city schools for sports, arts and other extracurricular activities.

This partnership is made possible through a secure, centralized upload of student school board email addresses to the transit system. This information will be used to send students an email prompting them to sign up and download the free pass onto their device through the B-Tap app.

We are proud to offer this cost-saving program as a way to support families and provide students with increased flexibility and opportunities to engage in learning, enrichment activities and ease of transportation throughout Belleville within and beyond school hours.

If you do not wish for your child(ren) to participate in this program to access free City of Belleville transit, please fill out the Opt-Out of Student Belleville City Bus Pass form that was sent to parent/guardian emails by February 7, 2025.
