The funding announcement came with an increase of 6.45% from the provincial government with the largest portion of that attributed to the Wage & Enrolment Growth Redistribution grant covering just over 60% of our expected budgeted increase for salaries. This funding is outside of the funding formula and divisions are still waiting for an updated funding formula that would be more equitable.
The 2025-2026 budget will also see a significant shift in revenue from municipal to provincial. This shift comes from the Homeowners Affordability Tax Credit of $1,500 to each primary residence and the Manitoba School Tax Rebate of 50% remaining for farmland.
"Our main focus in this year's budget was to address the increases in contractual obligations in our collective bargaining agreements, including the new Provincial agreement for teachers. With increasing student needs, we have also added additional staff to help support those students." said Board Chairperson Jason Gryba.
