St. Mary Catholic Secondary School has made history by becoming the first team in LOSSA history to win the prestigious OFSAA Provincial Championship Team Title in wrestling! The team faced off against 215 schools and some of the best high school wrestlers in Ontario and brought home a remarkable victory after only four seasons into the program.
In addition to the OFSAA team title, St. Mary also achieved three consecutive LOSSA Boys and Girls Wrestling Titles in the last three years! This year, they sent a record-breaking 27 wrestlers to OFSAA, showcasing the depth and talent of their program.
The team's success can be attributed to their dedication and hard work, with a team goal of winning the OFSAA title in early September. Their determination paid off with some impressive individual performances:
- Jon Angelo A. - 4th Place
- Sofia F. - Bronze Medal
- Adsaya P. - Bronze Medal
- Tarie D. - Gold Medal
- Aaharen P. - Gold Medal
This is Aaharen P.'s third consecutive gold medal at OFSAA! This is a testament to his exceptional talent and consistent performance and tremendous work ethic.
Coaches Mr. Antonucci, Mr. Ortencio and Mr. Idenouye, along with the entire coaching staff, are incredibly proud of the student-athletes who made this historic achievement possible. The hard work and dedication of each wrestler played a pivotal role in this triumph, and the team is already setting their sights on an even stronger season for 2025-2026.
