Please join Foothills School Division in congratulating Emily Baranyay who has been appointed Acting Principal of Millarville Community School (MCS), effective August 22, 2025.
We are pleased to announce that Ms. Baranyay has been appointed as the Acting Principal of Millarville Community School. Ms. Baranyay brings over ten years of experience with the Foothills School Division (FSD), where she has been an integral part of the Leading and Learning Cohort and has most recently contributed significantly at Millarville School. Her journey with FSD has instilled in her the importance of viewing students, caregivers, and staff as a connected community of learners. Ms. Baranyay is dedicated to fostering a positive school culture through her approachable and highly visible presence. She values a team-oriented approach to understanding and supporting the social-emotional needs of students, and she has consistently demonstrated the positive outcomes of collaboration. As a visionary school leader, her priority is to guide and encourage innovative practices that enhance well-being and strengthen the collective capacity to support others, aligning with the International Baccalaureate's focus on developing knowledgeable, principled, and caring global citizens.
It is a privilege to come back in this new role, and I am deeply honoured by the trust that has been placed in me. I'm excited to embark on the 2025-2026 school year with thoughtful intentions and a deep commitment to our school community!
Ms. Baranyay is an organized, supportive, and deeply motivated leader who holds high expectations for herself and others. She values effective communication and fosters an environment where ideas are shared freely, and all voices are heard and respected. We are confident that Ms. Baranyay's leadership will continue to inspire and elevate the Millarville Community School.
Ms. Baranyay holds a Bachelor of Arts (Kinesiology) from the University of Lethbridge; a Bachelor of Education from the University of Calgary; and a Master of Education, from the University of Calgary.
As she assumes the Acting Principal role at MCS, Emily shares: "I am truly grateful for the opportunity to return to Millarville School and continue teaching, learning, and leading with such an incredible team. Having grown up in the Millarville area, this school and community hold a special place in my heart. It is a privilege to come back in this new role, and I am deeply honoured by the trust that has been placed in me.
